Introduction to Buddhist meditation

Four week course – Monday evening in September 2026

This short course will explore how breathing meditation is the foundation for Buddhist meditation.

It starts with the breath. The simple in – out breath. We focus on that. Only that. Each mindful breath can be the vehicle that, slowly, slowly, leads us to a state of freedom.

At the start we build our  capacity to hold our mind to the experience of breathing, which grounds us  entirely in this fleeting present moment. Upon this foundation an entire edifice of  skilful practice is built.

We will discuss analytical meditation, which uses  reasoning and intellectual thought for overcoming misconceptions about life and  the concept of self. This will be integrated with placement meditation on an  object, where the mind becomes like a mountain, stable, non-dual, becoming  increasingly familiar with the object, in the present moment.

Anthony has been interested in Buddhist practice since the mid 1990’s and a long time student of our founder Khensur Rinpoche. We hope you will enjoy  Anthony’s presentation of these abstract topics, as he grounds them in our contemporary experience, in a light and easily understandable manner.
