Tibetan Buddhist Institute Membership fees allow the Centre to finance the facilities so we can offer Dharma teachings.

In gratitude to our members, we provide the following benefits:

  • Dharma Wheel Members enjoy free teachings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Geshe Jampa Gyaltsen, the Centre’s Resident Teacher
  • Discounted facility fee
  • 20% off events (excluding events with accommodation)
  • Free access to an extensive library of Buddhist literature
  • 10% discount on shop items (excluding already discounted items)
  • Members can have prayers dedicated to them at pujas
  • Opportunity to attend member functions and Annual General Meeting

Dharma Wheel is the highest tier of membership and is a significant way to ensure the continued turning of the wheel of Dharma.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Tibetan Buddhist Institute relies on the generosity of our friends and benefactors to support all our activities. Any contribution, large or small, is greatly appreciated. We rejoice in the many acts of generosity by members of our spiritual community, and we make strong aspirations to use all contributions in the way that most benefits those who come into contact with the Centre.

Tibetan Buddhist Institute (Thekchen Shedrub Choeling), is a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.

As a charity with Tax-Deductible Gift Recipient status endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office, donations to the TBI Building Fund are tax-deductible in Australia.

Additionally, we gladly accept general donations supporting a variety of important projects. Please note that these donations, while crucial to our efforts, are not tax-deductible.

Bequests

You can continue to benefit Tibetan Buddhist Institute after you pass away with a bequest. When you die it is appropriate that you provide for your loved ones and family in your will. However, you may also choose to leave part of your estate in the form of a bequest to Tibetan Buddhist Institute.

Wording Your Intention

If you wish to benefit Tibetan Buddhist Institute with a bequest, it must be clearly written into your will using the correct wording and with the assistance of a legal advisor such as a solicitor.

Bequest

“I bequeath the sum of $…… [or …..% of my estate], free of all probate and death duties, to Tibetan Buddhist Institute Thecken Shedrub Choeling Inc. of 8 Ross Avenue, Flinders Park, South Australia, 5025 for the general purpose of the said organisation and I DECLARE that the receipt of the authorised officer of Tibetan Buddhist Institute Inc. shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees who shall not be obliged to see the application thereof.”

Specific Bequest - for a specific purpose

“I bequeath the sum of $……. [or …..% of my estate], free of all probate and death duties, to Tibetan Buddhist Institute Thecken Shedrub Choeling Inc of 8 Ross Avenue, Flinders Park, South Australia, 5025 to be applied to the program/project of the said organisation known as [insert name of program or project] , or its nearest equivalent, and I DECLARE that the receipt of the authorised officer of Tibetan Buddhist Institute Inc. shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees who shall not be obliged to see the application thereof.”

Residuary Bequest

(a) Where specific bequest already made to organistion

“I bequeath the rest and residue of my estate to the said Tibetan Buddhist Institute Thecken Shedrub Choeling Inc. of 8 Ross Avenue, Flinders Park, South Australia, 5025 for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of the authorised officer of Tibetan Buddhist Institute Inc. shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees who shall not be obliged to see the application thereof.”

(b) Where no specific bequest made

“I bequeath the rest and residue of my estate to Tibetan Buddhist Institute Thecken Shedrub Choeling Inc. of 8 Ross Avenue, Flinders Park, South Australia, 5025 for its general purposes and I DECLARE that the receipt of the authorised officer of Tibetan Buddhist Institute Inc. shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees who shall not be obliged to see the application thereof.”
