Vajrasattva Practice

Vajrasattva practice is offered on alternating Sundays morning at 10.30am following the Lam Rim meditations. All are welcome to attend this practice. On alternate Sundays, Medicine Buddha practice is held.

Vajrasattva practice is a purification meditation used to cleanse negative karma, obscurations and habitual patterns that obstruct spiritual progress. When we engage in this practice, quoting Khensur Rinpoche “The purification of faults will occur in dependence on the Four Opponent Powers, which must be present to make any purification effective.” Therefore, we are encouraged to bring to mind the Four Opponent Powers before reciting Vajrasattva’s hundred-syllable mantra.

The Sunday morning practice begins with examining what is to be purified, meditating on the Four Opponent Powers and visualizing Vajrasattva, the embodiment of primordial purity and enlightened mind. The practice is completed through the prayers and mantra recitations, resulting in deep purification of body, speech and mind.

This enables the Tibetan Buddhist Institute community to support the dharma and allow us all to receive precious teachings from our teachers.

“I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.”
