Guru Puja

Guru Puja, Lama Chöpa in Tibetan, is a central practice in the Gelug tradition, expressing the heart of Tibetan Buddhism through devotion, wisdom, and compassion. It brings together the entire Lam Rim, from ethics and bodhicitta to the realization of emptiness, within a single, elegant ritual. Uniting sutra and tantra, Lama Chöpa is practiced to deepen connection with the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa, accumulate merit and wisdom, and remove obstacles on the path to enlightenment.

It is a beautiful ritual and there are many different tunes sung throughout a session. Guru Pujas are held at Tibetan Buddhist Institute on Tsog days and Auspicious days. Please refer to the calendar for details.
