A short course led by Anthony Reid
Have you read a book or listened to a podcast and are curious to know more about this remarkable tradition of human development? Like a great river valley, the Tibetan tradition contains rich fields of philosophy and practice that can nourish the spirit. This 5-week course will explore some of the key topics in Tibetan Buddhism from a contemporary perspective, decoding some of the traditional message without diluting their essence.
The sessions are intentionally informal and will delve into the range of Buddhist practice as upheld in the Tibetan tradition. There will be a focus on the principles behind Buddhist meditation with sessions on:
- A potted history of Buddhist and Tibet: gaining context of the enlightenment tradition
- Meditation what, why, when and how
- Love and compassion as the best response to the sufferings of the world
- Wisdom gone beyond: exploring emptiness
- Trial and error, and mostly error what to practice and what to expect while walking the path to enlightenment.
This course will be led by Anthony Reid, long-time student of Kyabje Khensur Kangyurwa Rinpoche, founder of Tibetan Buddhist Institute, and of Geshe Jampa Gyaltsen, Tibetan Buddhist Institute’s current Resident Teacher. Anthony has an abiding interest in Buddhist spirituality, has also listened to teachings from a range of Tibetan Buddhist teachers, and visited many of Buddhism’s important sacred sites in India and Tibet.
