Transient nature: SALA Event 2 to 16 August 2026

Transient Nature

Impermanence • Compassion • Wisdom

TIBETAN SAND MANDALA AND PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

Experience a rare living tradition at the Tibetan Buddhist Institute. Visiting monks trained at Sera Jey Monastery will create a traditional sand mandala over several days, an intricate ritual symbolising impermanence, compassion, and wisdom.

The mandala construction will occur over 2 to 16 August 2026.

The mandala will conclude with a sacred dissolution ceremony.

Alongside this, Adelaide artist Benjamin Liew presents photographic works including portraiture, and a contemplative series exploring transience, memory, and ancient architecture. A powerful meeting of ritual and contemporary photography, inviting reflection on the fleeting nature of life.

Join us at Tibetan Buddhist Institute for this wonderful event.

“I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.”
