Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life

Wednesdays from 7pm
With Geshe Jampa Gyaltsen

Wednesday evening teachings for all students with an interest in Buddhism.

Geshe-la is teaching from the renowned text Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, Bodhicaryāvatāra. Written in the 8th century by the Indian master Śāntideva, the text is one of the most-studied of the great Indian Buddhist texts. It consists of an overview of the entire Buddhist path, written in beautiful poetic verse and is relatively easy to study and understand.

Geshe Jampa Gyaltsen memorised all 10 chapters of this work as a young monk at Sera Jey Monastery and keeps this close to his heart. His explanations of the text come from his personal experience and are applicable to daily life.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said of the Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life: “If I have any understanding of compassion and the bodhisattva path, it all comes from studying this text.”
