Geshe Yama Rinchen

Geshe Yama Rinchen is one of the most exceptional Lharampa Geshes to have come out of the great monasteries of Sera Jey, Ganden and Drepung since 1959 and has become one of the leading teachers of Buddhist philosophy at Sera Jey Monastery in India. Despite the high level of his qualificatons, Geshe-la presents his teachings in an accessible and easy to understand way, a sign of his great kindness and sincere wish to help his many students around the world.

Geshe-la was born in eastern Tibet and escaped into exile in India in 1984, entered Sera Jey Monastery and was ordained at that time. He studied and obtained his Geshe Degree between 1984 and 2003. Geshe-la completed his tantric studies between 2004 and 2005. He has been teaching Buddhist philosophy at Sera Jey Monastery since 1990.

Geshe Yama Rinchen has held the roles of Disciplinary Master of Tehor Khangsten and of the entire Sera Jey Monastery. His overseas teaching tours have included Europe and Australia. Geshe Yama Rinchen was entrusted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to lead the party seeking the reincarnation of Kyabje Khensur Kangyurwa Rinpoche in Ladakh and has been entrusted with his education at Sera Jey Monastery.
